365-85 Four Girls, Three Goats and One Mom

March 31, 2010
by

Lindsay had three friends spend the night last night (we are on spring break). We are goat and chicken sitting this week so I gathered up the girls and headed over for the morning milking.

Our friends have an electric fence in which the goats are kept. To be milked, the goat has to be walked out of the enclosure and to a milking stand. Buttercup, according to our friends’ instructions, will go straight to the milking stand once you let her out.

She did not.

Notice  Buttercup is NOT walking up to the milk stand.

Once she was in the milk stand, her teats have to be washed before she could be milked.

The girls took turns milking. Notice how much milk is on the stand 🙂

It took me a couple of minutes to figure out I needed to walk around and get pictures of the girls and the HEAD of the goat, not shoot it from behind. This was a photogenic goat who knew I was taking pictures. If you look closely you can see her smiling.

The girls wanted to do a silly shot. Look at the goat; she is posing as well.

Lindsay and Miranda were giving hay to the other goats. Miranda tried to have a talk with one about sharing. I don’t think it went very well.

Here are the farm girls at the end of the milk session.

Thanks for posting these. It looks like they had fun(the girls and the goats.) Do you think these will help Randa get into vet school?
